Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey believes that Petr Cech’s experience of winning trophies can help push the North London club forward next season, as per the Daily Express.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper ended his 11-year association with Chelsea to move across London to title Premier League rivals Arsenal last month in a reported £11 million move (fee as per Evening Standard), which was the first permanent transfer between the two clubs since Lassana Diarra’s move to the Emirates in 2007.
The Czech Republic shot stopper won a total of 15 trophies during his spell at Stamford Bridge – including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League medal – and Ramsey, who has won successive FA Cups with the Gunners, believes that Cech’s vast experience will have a big impact on the side next season.
He said: “It’s a great signing. He’s been there and done it, so he knows what it’s all about and what’s required to go on and win things.
“His experience will be vital to us, and there’s no doubt about his qualities so we’re all looking forwardto him joining up.”
Since arriving at Chelsea from Rennes in 2004, Cech has been one of the most outstanding goalkeepers in the Premier League era, but he suffered his most difficult season to date last term as he was ousted from the Blues’ starting side as Jose Mourinho favoured Thibaut Courtois.Despite the setback, Cech still performed to the exceptional standards he has set down the years, making an average of two saves per game in his seven league appearances.Cech’s first appearance of the season came during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Arsenal, after he came on as a first half substitute for Thibaut Courtois.
He is currently Arsenal’s only major signing of the summer so far, while Chelsea have moved quickly to replace him with Asmir Begovic expected to arrive from Stoke City soon, as per the Guardian.
